WoW Forever is officially set to launch on November 4. As the latest version announced by Blizzard, it has attracted significant player interest since its reveal. Officially defined as "Classic+," it is frequently referred to by the community as WoW Classic Plus. Unlike a simple re-release, Forever builds upon the original framework by continuously adding new content while preserving the classic experience—characterized by no level boosts, no flying, and a community-driven focus. WoW Classic Plus Beta Content

The beta test runs until October 21 and proceeds in two stages. In the initial stage, the level cap is set to 20, allowing players to experience all content in zones designed for levels 1–20. After several weeks, the cap will rise to 30, unlocking new talent points and class abilities; level 30 will be the maximum level achievable during this test. Content spanning levels 30 to 60 will be available for players to experience after the official launch.

Core content available during the first week includes the new "Skyborne" race and their starting zone, Zephras Isle, alongside two brand-new dungeons: Hall of Thanes (levels 13–18) and Ruins of Lordaeron (levels 15–20). Additionally, social features such as the camping system and cross-server architecture are included in the testing scope.

The Skyborne Race and Zephras Isle Starting Zone

Skyborne is the first entirely new race introduced in WoW Forever, featuring a distinct elemental theme in its design. Visually, the Skyborne are a sub-race of Elves—often dubbed "Skyborne Elves" by the community—with lore deeply tied to wind elements and the power of the heavens. Players can choose to join either the Alliance or the Horde, with the race adopting different faction identities accordingly: "High Order Skyborne" for the Alliance and "Windshaper Skyborne" for the Horde. Zephras Isle is the dedicated starting zone for the Skyborne, covering levels 1 through 12. It is a floating island situated deep within the Elemental Plane of Skywall. The zone's art style blends the visual language of Classic Warcraft with elemental architectural elements inspired by Skywall, presenting a fresh environment while retaining a classic aesthetic. The Skyborne starting questline explores the race's history and the crisis they currently face, offering players a unique introductory experience distinct from traditional races.

The Skyborne possess four racial traits: two active abilities and two passive effects. The active ability "Walk on Air" allows players to glide through the air for up to 10 seconds; functioning similarly to the Slow Fall spell, it is particularly useful when navigating terrain with significant vertical drops. The second active ability varies by faction: Alliance players gain "Read Ley Line," which boosts health and mana regeneration by 100% for 15 seconds—significantly aiding recovery between battles in the Classic style—while Horde players receive "Skysight," an elemental blessing that increases running speed by 10%. The two passive traits are "Wind Blessed" (increasing melee, ranged, and spell haste by 1%) and "Elemental Insight" (increasing damage dealt to elemental creatures by 5%).

Please note that the Skyborne race is not automatically unlocked with a standard subscription. Players must purchase the Skyborne Heroic Pack (or a higher-tier bundle) to access this new race. Purchase grants the full Zephras Isle starting experience, along with an exclusive ground mount, a transmogrification set, and early character reservation privileges.

New Dungeons and Upcoming Test Content

"Hall of Thanes" and "Ruins of Lordaeron" are the two new dungeons opening during the first week of testing. The Hall of Thanes is designed for players levels 13–18, while the Ruins of Lordaeron caters to levels 15–20; both are accessible within the current level cap of 20.

As the level cap rises to 30, the testing content will expand further. Players will gain access to new talent points and class abilities, and the Darkspear Islands battleground will open for testing. Officials have stated that additional content will be unlocked gradually throughout the testing period. Furthermore, a "Server Slam" window is planned for the later stages of testing, granting all players access to the beta servers for a few hours; specific timing will be announced closer to the event.

Early Name Reservation

Between the end of the beta test and the official launch, there is a crucial window for character planning. From October 27 to November 3, players who have pre-ordered the "Skyborne Heroic Pack" or a higher-tier bundle can participate in Early Name Reservation. During this phase, players can create characters early and lock in their desired names. Reservations are handled on a first-come, first-served basis, so competition for popular names is expected to be fierce.

The naming system features a significant change: for the first time in WoW Forever, players can assign a full name to their character, consisting of a "Main Name" and a "Secondary Name." While the secondary name is optional, it allows you to craft a complete name combination for greater distinctiveness. If you prefer not to have the full name displayed above your character, you can disable the secondary name in the settings; visibility for both your own and other players' secondary names can be toggled individually.

Given the creative and unique IDs players have discussed on social media, this system offers significant creative freedom. Whether you wish to recreate the naming conventions of classic characters or invent a unique ID with personal flair, planning your main and secondary names in advance offers a much more relaxed experience than making a last-minute decision at launch. In the lead-up to the official launch, there are a few preparatory steps worth taking. If you plan to experience the Skyborne and Zephras Isle content, ensure you have purchased the Skyborne Heroic Pack (or a higher-tier bundle); this race is not included in the standard subscription. While you can purchase the upgrade later, doing so means missing the early reservation window. For players eager to secure a specific character name at launch, the early character reservation window (opening October 27) operates on a first-come, first-served basis; it is advisable to have two or three backup names ready to avoid making a rushed decision if your top choice is already taken.

Additionally, WoW Forever features neither WoW Tokens nor instant character boosts—all players start at Level 1, and the in-game economy is unaffected by cross-version WoW Forever gold transfers. This means that the leveling routes and experience gained during the Beta remain directly applicable after the official launch. Familiarizing yourself with the pacing of the first 20 to 30 levels beforehand will ensure smoother progress on launch day.
